Animal Wellness and Breeding
The health and wellness of lab animals is essential to the success of pre-clinical research. There is a body of environmental threats however that can directly impact their wellness, and the NIH refers to these threats as “Extrinsic Environmental Factors”. These environmental stressors are known to affect mice behavior and impede their breeding rates and pup yield, thereby reducing research lab productivity. We call these threats enviro-markers; they surface from the world of physics and include micro-vibration, ultra-sonic sound and audible sound. Some of these phenomena are beyond human perception and can be caused by human activity, base building systems and equipment.
